Hello! My name is Lynn and my son,Ethan, was born 10 weeks early in October 2008 with a diaphragmatic hernia. We were devastated when he was diagnosed at the 20 week ultrasound. When he was born his lungs were underdeveloped due to the right side of his diaphragm missing with his liver and intestines in his chest cavity. Nealy one year later, we are thrilled he has no mental deficits and is thriving physically. He is beginning to pull himself up in his crib and has been crawling everywhere! He is using oxygen at this point and will hopefully be weaned off soon. He also has a feeding tube to prevent aspirating any food or formula into his good left lung. Other than some reflux problems that causes big spit ups, he is doing fantastic. We cannot be thankful enough for such a wonderful outcome from the most bleak of diagnoses. His 3 year old sister loves her baby and does her best to take care of him.
